Hello, everyone,

As you'll see below, it has been a busy month both here at BlogHer, and with our network members, too!

If you have any questions about this update, please contact the help desk.

A Message From Jory:

GIve a video shout out to your peeps at BlogHer '09 and appear in a special episode of TheJuice

Can't go to Chicago? Didn't get at ticket? Want to say HI to all your blog buddies from your couch? BlogHer has come up with a way for YOU to get at least PART of you to BlogHer '09.

Hey all, it's Jory from BlogHer. Some of you may have seen my mug in webisodes of BlogHer's new show, sponsored by Trop 50 (by Tropicana), TheJuice; now YOU can star in a community-generated episode that we will be showing at BlogHer '09 and featured on BlogHer.com the following week.

There are two ways to take part in this special episode:

* Through a text blog post. If you decide to provide a blog post submission, you can simply leave a tip in our forum post on TheJuice with a link to your blog, so that we can credit you in the episode.

* Through a video blog post. If you decide to provide a video submission, you can upload your episode to your blog or to YouTube and leave us the link in our forum post on TheJuice, or you can simply upload your video here at our video upload page, where we will find it.

TheJuice extracts tips from our community around anything that a bunch of tech-addicted, attention-deficit-disordered types like us experience in our daily lives. Since this episode will be shown front and center at our annual love-in, we thought it would be fun to feature a video of us offering up words of wisdom about how we stay connected to our blog buddies and people in our analog world-you know, spouses, children, mothers, employers and all that-while navigating our obsession with being online. Need I say keep it clean?

In your video, please be sure to mention your name (the one you want everyone at the conference and watching the show to know you by) and your blog name. We will include your blog URL in the video, so anNUNciate please!

Even if we can't run everything we get in this episode, we will showcase all that we receive on BlogHer.com in our archive and in a round-up.

And please note the deadline: Friday, June 26th. Sorry, but we can't accept video after that, as we've got a conference to run!

Hope to see you-literally!

BlogherAds Newsletter, Issue #55, April 2009

Hi everyone,

We've received a number of questions about our policy about giveaways on your blogs, so we decided to follow-up today's email with another newsletter to help explain.

Many of our network members are eager to participate in promotional blog tours, and receive frequent offers for review products, or items to give away. We don't want you to have to turn down any of these opportunities - giveaways and sponsored trips included! You can absolutely accept them onto your blogs -- as long as you place them on pages without BlogHerAds! Would you like help with this? Our help desk can show you how.

Here's why BlogHer is now including giveaways in our definition of advertorial: In the past year, the number of free giveaways offered to bloggers for your readers has grown so exponentially that they are becoming, in essence, ads in blog editorial content. Our paying advertisers are not willing to pay the top advertising rates that BlogHer's Ad Network charges if their ad is going to appear next to an advertorial you've written about another product.

Changing your blog name or URL

We're happy to help make changes if you pick a new blog title or URL.

If you are changing your blog's name, but not the URL:
Please go to the "About Your blog" page in your profile and update the "Blog name" field. Click the "Save" button at the bottom of the page. Thanks!

If you are changing your URL i.e. from thisismyblog.com to awholenewblog.com, please contact the Helpdesk and let us know.

We also need a new comScore Traffic Assignment form, which you can download below. Please scan and email this form back to laura@blogher.com, or you can fax it back using the coversheet in the packet below.

Who should Public Service Announcements help on BlogHerAds?

Earlier in the week I called Lisa to talk about the empty ad space on our blogs we have staring us in the face when we have blown through our ads. I mentioned to her that in the spirit of BlogHer maybe we should take on a cause and use that empty space as a way to help others. To put up an ad for a Non-Profit Organization that would reach out and help others. I was thrilled to hear that Alanna Kellogg had mentioned the same idea to Lisa.

I was so excited to hear the enthusiasm of all of you on the phone calls today about this opportunity to reach out to the community, especially in this time between now and January 1st. Since I'm the one who opened my mouth, I now get the job of helping make this happen. We need to act quickly to pick two or three deserving organizations who can help make the world a better place.
